Decision Architecture · Capability 04

Staff design for decision dominance.

IDDI, Problem-Centric Analysis and the KASNIAN framework, applied to the structural design of staff and HQs. We build the decision web on which multi-domain ISR can actually act — under uncertainty, at tempo, with audit.

What we deliver

The specific offerings.

  • IDDI methodology rollout. Integrated Decision-Driven ISR adoption for HQs and ISR commands — doctrine, training, and tooling.
  • Problem-Centric Analysis (PCA) workshops. Defining the threshold problem the commander must resolve, and the analytical chain that supports it.
  • KASNIAN framework deployment. Mapping Key actors, Alliances, Structures, Norms, Interests, Attitudes and Networks within a defined problem.
  • Threshold-verdict methodology. Operationalising the Activity / Attribution / Intent-or-Effect convergence test, anchored to the UK PHIA Probability Yardstick.
  • Staff design review. Structural assessment of HQ design against the decisions it must support — with concrete restructuring recommendations.
How we do it

Methodology.

Most ISR transformation programmes fail not at the tooling layer but at the staff-design layer. The right architecture starts from a clear-sighted view of the threshold decisions the HQ owns, then designs the analytical chain, the gates, and the audit trail backwards from those decisions.

IDDI’s operating logic — Understand, Decide, Effect — is recursive, not linear. We design staff structures that can survive that recursion under time pressure: with named Decision Support Requirements, a confidence ladder, Human Gates, and a Decision Trace that every product can be walked back to.

KASNIAN provides the analytical lens for the decision ecosystem inside a given problem; PCA defines the problem itself; threshold-evidence logic provides the judgement mechanism. Together they form a deployable framework that we have used to redesign ISR cells, fusion cells and joint targeting boards.

Representative engagements

How this work shows up.

HQ redesign

Fusion-cell redesign at a coalition joint HQ

Six-week programme to redesign the fusion cell against the threshold decisions the HQ owned, with new Decision Support Requirement templates and a revised gate structure.

Method adoption

IDDI rollout into a partner-nation ISR command

Twelve-week phased rollout of IDDI methodology, with a doctrine-anchored training programme, the AI-Enabled IDDI demonstrator, and a VALKYRIE pilot environment.

Threshold method

Threshold-verdict workshop series for a national intelligence agency

Workshop series introducing the Activity / Attribution / Intent-or-Effect convergence test and the UK PHIA Probability Yardstick to a national agency’s assessment cadre.
